A group of long-time friends, who have been playing lottery games for decades, won a life-changing prize. That’s the story of four Monbulk friends who won the division one prize from TattsLotto over the weekend.
Single division one winning entry takes down $6.5m prize
The fortunate players created a closed lottery syndicate and have been playing lottery games for years. They purchased the 12-game entry at Monbulk Authorised Newsagency on 76 Main Street in Monbulk. TattsLotto’s drawing 4665 on April 4, 2026, saw winning numbers 2, 4, 13, 5, 14 and 37, along with supplementary numbers 21 and 22 drawn. Interestingly, in all of Australia, there was a single division one winning entry, the one from Victoria, belonging to the four friends. As the sole division one winning entry, the ticket took down the game’s top prize for a total of AU$6,490,533.39 ($4.5m). An official from The Lott spoke to the owner of the newsagency where the top prize winning ticket was sold. The shop owner confirmed that the latest TattsLotto division one winning entry marks the third top prize won at the same location in the last four years.
After playing for 40 years, the private lottery club finally won big
When an official from The Lott contacted the winner on Sunday to give him the good news, he was unaware of the huge fortune that had come his way. Jolly good! Thank you! This is ticket with me and my three friends, the winner, whose identity wasn’t publicly disclosed, said. Moreover, the fortunate player pointed out: We’ve had the same numbers for 40 years. That’s about $1.6 million each! The winner admitted to playing with three other friends whom he has known forever. He said that one of the other members of the private lottery syndicate has gone through a tough time, which is why he will be the first to hear the good news. It will mean so much to all of us. For me, I could retire but I won’t as I like what I do. But it will be a great nest egg for the future, the player added. Finally, the winner recalled being asked if he thought he would ever win a TattsLotto top prize, adding that he has now achieved this goal with his friends.
